Since launching in Israel just a few months ago, Google Street View has quickly become a very useful tool for tourists interested virtually visiting the major sites while planning their trip to Israel from the comfort of their own home. Google's Street View enables a 360 degree angle virtual tour of three central cities: Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa.
Most recently the Catholic Israel tourism website has incorporated street view into their website www.holyland-pilgrimage.org
. Through Google Street View potential pilgrims from around the world can take tours from their computer of the Via Delarosa, the Church of Holy Sepulcher, Mount of Olives, and Christian holy sites across the country.
Another Israeli tourism website that has taken advantage of the new Google Street View capabilities is www.itraveljerusalem.com
, where potential tourists can virtually walk through the streets of Jerusalem, check out their hotel and all of the major sites in the capital without even boarding an airplane.
