Luisa Miller

An opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi, with Italian libretto by Salvadore Cammarano and based on the play Kabale und Liebe by Friedrich von Schiller. This opera portrays the story of Luisa, who loves Carlo but does not know that he is not who she thinks he is. He is really Rodolfo, the son of Count Walter, and is engaged to the Duchess Federica. When the truth is revealed, Count Walter imprisons Luisa's father, and the only way for her to free him is to renounce her love for Rudolfo, who swears that he loves only her and is willing to fight a duel for the right to love her. In the end, the two lovers drink poison after discovering that a third party misled them against one another. See website for exact dates and times.
