Mazor Mausoleum

Mazor Mausoleum This tomb, with its amazingly intact, temple-like façade and the remnants of two stone coffins in the main chamber, was probably built in the third century CE for an unknown, wealthy Roman couple. Another chamber contains a dovecote with about 60 niches for doves to sacrifice to Aphrodite. Later, Muslims added a prayer niche and dedicated the site to Nebi Yahya (John the Baptist). Thus, due to its sanctity, the building was preserved through the centuries
