Peter’s House

Christians have been visiting the house of Peter at Capernaum in Galilee since the dawn of pilgrimage. On the walls of the e first-century BCE dwelling, where Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law, the faithful left some 131 sacred inscriptions. In the mid-fourth century, a large church was built around Peter’s house. Some years ago a modern church also went up, with a view of the ruins through its floor, and of the Sea of Galilee and Capernaum through its windows.
